An article from Anil Dash about Microsoft's Weblog Software makes interesting reading.
This is another example of Microsoft doing what it does best: Turning useful applications and functionality into a commercial product, and making it generally available to mass-market users.
There are a lot of Microsoft employees who are active bloggers, and no doubt their experiences to date will be fed directly into Microsoft's product development plans for SharePoint.
