Dan Gillmor broke the news that Google has bought Pyra, the company behind the weblog hosting site Blogger.com
There will no doubt be lots of analysis on this in the next few days and weeks, and no doubt lots of speculation too about a new "Internet gold rush" around blogging. I think some sanity and balance is provided by comments from Deborah Branscum, highlighted by Tom Murphy's blog
