WS-I Election Results

The WS-I election results have been released, so congratulations are in order to Mark Hapner and Andy Astor for winning board seats.

One consolation is that this result now frees me up to devote more time to my technology work, which has had to take rather a back seat for the last few weeks.

From talking with members in the run-up to the election, it's clear that everyone (both vendors and end-users) is eager for the promise of Web Services to become a reality. There's no question that the WS-I has an important role in that process.

Did anyone else notice how this eWeek article (on 25-March-2003) managed to accurately predict the WS-I election results a full day _before_ the results were actually released to anyone? However, of the nominees in the running, sources say two prospects tend to stand out. Sun's Mark Hapner ... and Andy Astor ... are viewed as front-runners by some observers. Those sure were good "observers" that Darryl Taft talked to, weren't they? The phrase "leaky as a sieve" springs to mind, for some strange reason. Ah, the joys of politics!
