Having spent the day at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference, I realized I haven't been to a west coast conference in a very long time. They have a totally different feel and style to conferences on the the US east coast or in Europe.
I met up with Mark for lunch, and he gave me a live demo his new photoblog capabilities - taking a picture with his Ericson cellphone and sending it to an e-mail account which auto-posts it to his photoblog. Pure cool!
Silicon Valley always seems to me to be a very close-knit community where everyone knows each other! Thankfully I met a few people I recognised, and Mark introduced me to some more. Famous names included Sam Ruby (IBM), Rael Dornfest (O'Reilly/"Google Hacks"), Ben and Mena Trott (Six Apart), and Adam Bosworth (BEA).
To say the least, it was a little hard for my presentation to be immediately after one about the untra-sexy hot topic of nano-technology!
