I left Helsinki for Stockholm, where I am joining Mark Nottingham in a few days vacation and sightseeing this weekend.
It was great weather for flying, and I got a clear view of just how green Sweden and Finland both are. Landing at Arlanda airport outside Stockholm, I was struck by a very strong similarity with Seattle - lots of forests and green everywhere, with the houses and buildings all built among the trees. Jeff Mischkinsky from Oracle, who was on the same flight but en-route for London and back to the USA, made exactly the same comment.

Mark and I are staying at the Nordic Sea Hotel, which is a great little boutique hotel in downtown Stockholm just next to the Arlanda Express terminal from the airport. It is very handy for all the attractions, and there are currently some fantastic offers on room rates. The lobby of the Nordic Sea Hotel contains a giant illuminated fish tank, which is an incredible sight.

Lots of touristy things planned for the weekend......
