This site examines speech accents by having 297+ speakers from many different language backgrounds reading the same sample paragraph (in English).
It's fascinating once you start digging around. There are some great accents from the UK, especially Glasgow and Dudley. Unfortunately there's nothing from North East England around where I was born, which has it's own set of interesting accents (like Geordie and Teesside). Personally I've never heard anyone from Belfast speak like this though!
