With the publication today of a new version of the WS-Addressing specification, it has now matured through implementation experience and community feedback in the workshops process into one of the most important bedrock components of the whole Web services architecture.
The concepts and mechanisms in this spec work to cement the other WS-* specifications together, so it's a very important subject for enterprise architects and web service developers everywhere to know about. Go read it!
Web Services Addressing (WS-Addressing)
WS-Addressing provides transport-neutral mechanisms to address Web services and messages. Specifically, this specification defines XML elements to identify Web service endpoints and to secure end-to-end endpoint identification in messages. This specification enables messaging systems to support message transmission in a transport-neutral manner through networks that include processing nodes such as endpoint managers, firewalls, and gateways.
